Stylized Button Blanket Contemporary Wall Art

This contemporary stylized button blanket was featured as part of an art installation where the fundamental question of why the consumption of objects is exchanged for the expression of authentic desire and experience. This "button blanket" styled wall hanging is made with antique abalone buttons and vintage wool blankets. Traditional Button Blankets are created by northwest coastal tribes in North America and are used as a ceremonial robe. It serves as insignia of family history, duties, rights and symbol of family heritage. This richly coloured wool blanket is designed to be hung on the wall.
