Brass Jardiniere Canadian Metal Smith Arts and Crafts
Regular price
$0.00
You can own a piece of Canadian decorative arts history. Paul Beau devoted his career to the execution of his own hand work as a metal craftsman. He was part of the Arts and Crafts movement in Canada and and maintained a shop and residence from 1915 - 1922. Beau refused to rely on machines and worked in the tradition of the early European metalsmiths.
This jardiniere is characteristic of Beau's work. He treated the brass with chemicals to produce a shiny patina which gives the piece an antique look. Some of the finish is worn off and there are some fine lines in the brass but is otherwise in good condition for its age.
It is stamped with PAUL BEAU & Co/MONTREAL within a circle.
